How to Make – Scones


So yesterday I tried to bake something I wouldn’t normally bake. SCONES

You will need:

225g/8oz self raising flour

pinch of salt

55g/2oz butter

25g/1oz caster sugar

150ml/5fl oz milk

1 free-range egg, beaten, to glaze

The first thing you want to do is heat the oven to 220c which is gas mark 7

Then you need to add the flour and salt to a bowl and rub in the butter (I know disgusting)

I messed this up because I added the sugar early but it doesn’t make a difference.

Stir in the sugar and milk to make a dough (I found this works better with your hands, once again ew)

Add flour to a work surface and then knead the dough. Flatten it to a 2 cm layer and stamp your scones out and add them to a tray which you have sprayed with cooking spray or have added some baking sheets.

 Brush the top of your scones with egg and it them in the oven for 10-15 minutes until golden brown

Now place your scones on a cooling rack and serve with a filling of your choice (may I suggest the usual butter or jam and cream!)

And you’re done! You have created some simple scones!
